Funding has been awarded through phase two (the implementation phase) of the Community Research Networks programme, by UK Research and Innovation (UKRI), and will be delivered by The Young Foundation, a non-profit organisation that specialises in community research and social innovation.
Compost London will lead the network, working in partnership with University College London (UCL) and its Institute of Global Prosperity, and Newham Council's policy, research and partnerships team. Eight voluntary sector groups are earmarked to join the project, focusing on three different marginalised communities in the area:
Migrants and refugees - Newham Community Project, Care 4 Calais, The Centre for Theology and Community (CTC)
Marginalised women - ELBWO, Deep Boroughs
SEND young people - Distinctive Solutions, The 5E's
Compost London is seeking a Newham CRN Phase 2 Implementation Manager to support the programme over the next five years. Your work will focus on supporting each community network and network lead to develop a strong community research network of committed organisations engaged in marginalised communities in Newham. Working closely with Newham Council’s research team, UCL and community organisations, you will assist in the recruitment and coordination of training citizen social scientists from the Network to help create a framework of local research that empowers residents to influence research agendas, policy, and services in the Borough.
We are looking for individuals with lived experience to join our team and play a key role in supporting organisations working with with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), ethnically marginalized women, and migrants and refugees. Your unique perspective and experience will be central to driving meaningful change and ensuring our services are inclusive and effective.
